Value, the company behind Steam, recently announced that Steam’s PC app and Steam Deck will now let you record gameplay. This is a welcome addition for those who have been using third-party apps to capture their gameplay up until now.

This means you can record all your games directly from the Steam Overlay. Of course, you can also use the 'Replay' function to catch up on the last few seconds.
As of June 29, 2024, the Game Recording feature will be in beta. However, you can easily get it working now if you open up the beta options via Steam's settings page. Here's how to enable the new Game Recording feature.
On top of the Game Recording feature, Steam has also introduced new ‘Timeline-enhanced’ games. When you start actively recording these titles, you’ll see that the Steam Timeline automatically generates event markers based on what happened during gameplay. These will also include your Steam Achievements and screenshots.
