Dave the Diver designer Jaeho Hwang announced on the PlayStation Blog on Tuesday that his fun pixel art game will be coming to PS5 for PlayStation Plus members on April 16. He also revealed some cool new content.

The game is a strange hybrid of gameplay styles that don’t really belong together but do, which makes for a delightful gaming experience. By day, you’ll be exploring the depths of the ocean to find various fish and loot, while by night, you’ll be running a sushi restaurant with a cast of unique characters to interact with. Right? Weird, but oddly compelling. As if that wasn’t enough, the developer decided to throw in even weirder side content, like cooking contests, seahorse races, photography quests, and a… rhythm game? "This is the most delightful twist that surprised everyone; What on earth is this rhythm game with an anime theme song doing in the diving game?! One of our characters, Duff, an avid fan of Stra Stella – a fictional anime in the game – goes on a musical journey to attend a dream concert with beloved characters," Hwang wrote in the blog post
Review aggregator Metacritic currently gives the title a score of 90/100, with a user score of 8.3/10, showing how well the game has been received. The game has been out on Steam for macOS and Windows since June 2023, with a Nintendo Switch version due out in October 2023.
