In the season 7 premiere of SWAT, airing February 16 — followed by the return of Fire Country and Blue Bloods — the team heads to Mexico City. In “The Promise,” they set out to rescue a fugitive who slipped through Hondo’s (Shemar Moore) clutches 10 years ago, but — unsurprisingly — things go awry, old wounds are reopened, and Hondo is once again on the trail of the killer, desperate to fulfill a decade-old promise. The photos, which you can see above and below, offer a look inside the investigation, focusing on Hondo.
We almost didn't see these last 13 episodes. SWAT was initially canceled in May, but CBS and Sony reversed that decision three days later.
"We've listened to our viewers and their outpouring of passion for SWAT … SWAT has aired on CBS for six seasons and has developed a devoted following," Amy Reisenbach, President, CBS Entertainment, and Katherine Pope, President, Sony Pictures Television Studios, said in a joint statement at the time. "We're thrilled to have found a way to bring it back and give the show's storylines and characters closure that audiences deserve. Once again, we appreciate the talents and efforts of the cast, writers, producers and crew and everyone who contributed to the success of SWAT. We look forward to its return next season."
