Have $55,000 to spare and want unlimited Wi-Fi while driving? BMW and T-Mobile have the solution.
Great deal for the Magenta Carrier! T-Mobile Magenta Drive: First US 5G Connected Cars with BMW.
The two companies have just partnered to create 5G-connected cars, called Magenta Drive, according to a press release from T-Mobile. The new 2022 BMW iX and i4 models will now work with T-Mobile’s 5G network, allowing drivers to use their cars as free-roaming, large, Wi-Fi hotspots.
What does this mean exactly? BMW iX and i4 owners have the option to purchase vehicle-specific T-Mobile plans for unlimited data and talking, even if you don’t have your phone with you. You also get 200MB of roaming data when you go off-grid, and 5GB of 4G data per month for use in Canada and Mexico.
Of course, these plans aren’t free. You’ll pay $20 a month for the T-Mobile plan and, oh yeah, $55,700 (starting) for a BMW i4 and $87,000 (starting) for the beefier BMW iX.
