In competitive League of Legends, strategies that shape how the game is played come and go patch by patch. One strategy that has made a nostalgic comeback lately is the lane swap, and T1 jungler Oner has just one suggestion for players facing a lane swap in the solo queue.

Lane swaps have crept back into the current meta and are now a big deal, especially in pro play. But as veteran players know, the League community really loves to copy strategies seen in tier-one play or international tournaments — usually without much success. So while Oner chose to keep the tips and tricks on how to counter this strategy to himself, as T1 is currently vying for the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational title, he did offer some specific instructions for solo queue players whose opponents are attempting to swap lanes: “Just have fun.”
According to Oner, there is “no way” to improve your strategy if you’re currently running into lane swaps in solo queue as a jungler. To counter this strategy, you need a good level of communication between you and your teammates, and if you’re trying to climb the ranks of solo queue, that’s rare or difficult to build up in a short amount of time.
Traditionally, lane swaps are done to avoid tough matchups in the bot lane while also denying the enemy top laner a farm. But executing a successful lane swap requires a lot of teamwork and communication, something that isn’t always easy in solo queue.
