Take-Two Interactive announced plans to lay off five percent of its staff, just weeks after the company said there were "no plans" for job cuts.

The gaming industry was hit by layoffs in 2024, a trend that has continued after the publisher of Grand Theft Auto 6 cut jobs and canceled projects, in a move the publisher said would save it $165 million annually.
Take-Two Interactive outlined its plans in an SEC filing on April 16, and the announcement comes as a particularly tough blow considering that CEO Strauss Zelnick said just a few weeks ago that there were "no current plans" for job cuts.
Zelnick made the comments to IGN ahead of Take-Two's third-quarter earnings report, which followed news that Rockstar had ordered GTA 6 developers to return to their roles in February.
