Taylor Swift has cleared the air after one of Charli XCX's recent songs left fans suspicious that there was animosity between the two pop stars.

On "Sympathy Is a Knife," the third track on Charli's most recent album, Brat, the singer details his feelings of anxiety over another woman ("I couldn't even be her if I tried") and how that woman hung around backstage at shows in 1975 with Charli's current fiancé George Daniel, who plays drums for the band. While the song isn't critical of the other woman but instead looks inward, internet sleuths have figured out that it was likely Swift, since she was in a relationship with lead singer Matty Healy at the time Charli likely wrote the lyrics (which include "Don't wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend's show / Fingers crossed behind my back / I hope they break up quick").

In a new article in New York Magazine, Swift is asked about Charli and she showers her with compliments.

"I've been blown away by Charli's melodic sensibilities since I first heard 'Stay Away' in 2011," Swift says. "Her songwriting is always surreal and inventive. She just takes a song to places you wouldn't expect, and she's been doing it consistently for over a decade. It's so amazing to see hard work like this pay off."
