From the outside, Team Sonic Racing looks more like Mario Kart with a skin mod to make it different, but it’s only once you get into the game and start racing that you really feel the rush Sonic must feel as he tears past everyone. The game is action packed and along with him you get his friends and enemies too, which really rounds out the game.
Team Sonic Racing Review
The game is built around a simple but effective storyline, which flows nicely as you progress and get going. Vehicle mods add a bit of class to the game, and you can definitely take advantage of these to make your vehicle almost impossible to beat. While the game looks childish enough, there’s nothing childish about it once you’re behind the wheel and mesmerized by the wacky and erratic tracks.
The game pushes you to be better every time, because your opponents are hot on your heels in every race. This game feels like the Need For Speed titles of old, where the game pushed you to be better. If EA reads this, I hope they take some ideas from it and learn how to use the AI opponents in the game.
The drifting in the game feels so controlled that you will want to drift at every opportunity. While it is easy to do, you will often have to use it to collect coins or to make a mind-numbing turn.
