Both Messages and Dictation in iOS 16 get several upgrades, allowing you to edit or delete sent texts and switch instantly between spoken and manual input.
iPhone | Retrieve or edit text/iMessages on your device
Apple's WWDC 2022 wasted no time in detailing what to expect from iOS 16, which includes a number of highly requested features coming to Messages. Previously read texts can be marked as unread, for example, so you can keep track of what you still need to respond to. It's much the same idea as marking emails as unread.
Additionally (and probably much more expected) is confirmation that Messages in iOS 16 will let you edit texts even after they’ve been sent. It won’t prevent the recipient from seeing typos if they view the message before editing, but it should provide clarification without requiring a follow-up message.
You can also delete a message after you’ve sent it, whether it was sent to the wrong person, sent by mistake, or is just embarrassing and you want it gone. Like editing, it won’t prevent the recipient from viewing (or screenshotting) the original text if they read it before deleting it.
