The Philips N1500 was probably the first historical consumer technology product ever shown at CES. It was the first videocassette recorder for the consumer market. The N1500 was shown in 1970 and came out in 1972. The N1500 was intended for home television recording rather than big budget movie playback.
VCR technology would not become mainstream until later in the decade. Still, this early attempt proved the potential of the technology and sparked consumer interest in the technology.
