The next Apple Watch will have flat sides and a larger, flatter display, but it may also look thicker.
Apple Watch Series 7 is a bigger upgrade than you think!
According to Apple rumor master Mark Gurman, the Apple Watch Series 7 will be 1mm taller than the small and large models, bringing them to 41mm and 45mm respectively. At the same time, the display will be flatter, as will the edges of the casing, making it more similar to the iPhone 12 and the latest iPad Pro and Air. There’s also a faster processor, a couple of new watch faces, and some rumors of additional health sensors.
“Rumor has it that a glucose monitor and new swim tracking features will be added to take full advantage of the extra space,” Daniel Carter, Apple Watch wearer and gadget writer, told Lifewire via email.
The current Apple Watch design has been revised over the years, but is essentially the same as the very first model. It’s much thicker than a typical non-smartwatch, and it tries to hide this with rounded edges, in the same way that early iPhones and iPads curved their backs to make their edges slimmer.
