Pizza is a delicious convenience that most of us appreciate when we want a hot meal (that we don’t have to prepare) delivered right to our door. But what comes next—storing leftovers—can be tricky. Pizza boxes don’t exactly fit comfortably in the fridge, but you know you’ll want to get in on round two tomorrow. Here are a few easy ways to store pizza slices, depending on how you like your leftovers.
How to Store and Reheat Pizza
For sticky, soggy second-day pizza, take precautions to ensure the slices don’t dry out too much in the fridge, says Lifehacker food writer Allie Reinmann. Place them in airtight containers, like Tupperware, for best results. You can also use resealable bags, but you’ll need to place each slice in its own container.
I, on the other hand, prefer my pizza dried out on the second day. It’s crispier that way, you see. If you agree, there are two options we recommend. The first is to modify the original pizza box to make it smaller and fit better in your fridge: tear off the top of the box, then remove the side flaps. Bend the bottom piece of cardboard right down the middle, and you’ll have a smaller box that you can slide right into your fridge. Here’s a TikTok explaining the method:
Your other method involves stacking and wrapping each piece individually. According to the Grand Island Independent, you’ll want to stack your first piece on a plate, then place a layer of parchment paper on top (to keep the pieces from sticking together) and continue stacking, alternating between pizza and paper until you’ve stacked all of the pieces. Wrap your new stack tightly in plastic wrap.
