There are several new weapons and weapon types available in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, it has been revealed, including a martial arts style that sees you use your bare hands (and feet) to deliver flashy, devastating blows to your enemies, finishing them off quickly. It sounds like a unique and cool way to play the game; we can expect to see plenty of players attempting to complete the DLC and the entire game with a purely martial arts build. This also seems like a cool thing to try out in the base game, and you’ll get revenge on some of those pesky enemies who one-shotted you (lookin’ at you, you big lobster!).
Elden Ring DLC, but only for martial arts!
To ease the suffering of those starting the DLC, a new rare consumable item will be available for players to use. These are called Scadutree Fragments and will negate some incoming damage as well as buffing the damage you deal. These can be stacked and leveled up at Sites of Grace to make your journey much more bearable, though they only work in the DLC. These are of course optional, but if you're new to FromSoft DLCs (which are comparatively harder than the base games) then these are something you'll want.
The Land of Shadow is the new region you will explore: a neglected area full of leaves that are drying or dying. The atmosphere is almost like Bloodborne; as usual with FromSoft's formula, you have numerous shortcuts and small paths to use to reach that much-needed Site of Grace.
Shadow of the Erdtree also expands Elden Ring’s wide variety of enemies, adding more powerful versions of the ghosts, birds, and knights you encounter in the main game. There will be over 10 main bosses in store, as well as other side bosses ready for the Tarnished to take on. One of these, Devine Beast Dancing Lion, is said to have magical abilities while also being agile enough to perform attacks that leap across the arena. Agility also seems to be a common theme among the enemies in the DLC, in addition to them being deadlier. So overall, it seems like the enemies will be more similar to those in Crumbling Farum Azula and Miquella’s Haligtree in the main game.
