Eufy's new Video Doorbell 2K makes it easy to keep an eye on your visitors, with up to five days of recording time.
This ($199) doorbell offers crystal-clear video quality and integrates with voice assistants. It’s exclusive to Best Buy. But can it convince me, a video doorbell skeptic?
Until recently, I’d never understood why I’d need a video camera to keep tabs on my home. It seemed a little paranoid, to be honest. But I tried out the latest version of eufy just as my anxiety levels were skyrocketing due to the pandemic and the doom-laden election headlines. Was civilization going to collapse because of the coronavirus toilet paper shortage? Could the remnants of society start fighting over the last few packets of yeast? If so, I reasoned, maybe it was better to know who was going to come calling in the middle of the night.
For the reluctant Mad Max or just regular homeowner, the eufy is a sleek piece of tech. The doorbell sports a sleek, all-black design with a front-facing camera and built-in microphone. It records and streams in 2K (2560×1920) resolution with HDR and a tall 4:3 aspect ratio that’s “designed to show people from head to toe,” the company said in a press release. And that camera is designed to work when things happen at night.
