THE FINALS has completely changed the way we enjoy multiplayer FPS games. With massive destruction and fast-paced gameplay, THE FINALS started with a loud bang, but fans fear the end is near.
The final is a bit uncertain
When THE FINALS launched in December 2023, it averaged 150,000 concurrent players according to SteamDB. As of this writing, the average player count has dropped to around 15,000. It's normal for any game to drop in numbers a few months after launch, but as fans on Reddit pointed out on June 4th, it's "one of the best FPS games out right now," and the main reason for the low player count is sweaty players.
"It's honestly one of those games that if it's out long enough it has a huge skill gap in players and without enough players to fill SBMM it dies," one player wrote. Like any multiplayer game, THE FINALS has an ever-evolving meta that regular players are familiar with. If you're a new player or someone who plays occasionally, chances are you'll get crushed multiple times before you start having fun.
"I downloaded it on impulse about a month after release. Good gunplay, fun gameplay, but after three games where I was just completely wiped out, I deleted it. There's just no point in trying unless you're day one with these games," one player commented.
