The First Descendant Patch 1.0.2, released on July 11, brought many major improvements to the game, but also a nasty memory leak that causes the game to crash on almost every platform.
The First Descendant – HUGE PATCH! Update 1.0.7 All changes, buffs and more!
After the patch went live, The First Descendant players began reporting crashes after extended play sessions. Apparently, the game loads the required amount of VRAM, but consistently uses more. Depending on what console you’re playing on or how powerful your GPU is, the memory leak can last anywhere from two to five hours before the game crashes.
Multiple Steam and Reddit users have noticed this. One Steam user said, "After Hotfix 1.0. 2 was introduced, the game would completely fill up the GPU VRAM when the game was open for extended periods of time (5+ hours), and the game started to stutter very badly with many FPS Drops."
The issue isn’t limited to specific PC builds, as some console players are also experiencing similar issues. Steam Deck users have also spoken out about random disconnections and crashes.
