Naughty Dog has reportedly been wrapping up work on the long-awaited PC release of The Last of Us Part II since November of last year, but the company reportedly has yet to move forward with releasing the port for computer gamers.
What if "Last of Us" was a VIDEO GAME?!
This comes from reliable leaker Billbil-kun, who has suggested that Sony is interested in pairing the PC release with the second season of HBO's The Last Of Us TV adaptation, which is currently scheduled to air in 2025. While that second season won't cover the entire story of the game, it would make sense for them to release together to boost sales of the new PC title and increase interest in the already hugely popular show.
The Last of Us 2 recently had a remastered edition that launched earlier this year on PlayStation 5, so some work has been done there. While there's no word on whether the PC port will be based on the same recent remaster or the original PlayStation 4 game, the former seems more likely than not. If precedence were anything to go by, The Last of Us 2 was due out on PC in March 2023 and was based on the 2022 PS5 remaster.
This Last of Us port may now be beaten out by another major Sony flagship coming to PC, namely a sequel: God of War: Ragnarök. That follow-up update is scheduled for September later this year.
