The latest trailer for Splatoon 3 shows off chaos in the multiplayer mode Turf War, but more importantly, it also gives us a clear release date.
Splatoon 3 – Release Date Revealed – Nintendo Switch
We knew Nintendo’s popular squid game (no, not that one) was getting a third installment , and we knew that, like most sequels, it would be an iteration of the game that came before it. That’s a game that Lifewire selected as the best shooter on Switch in 2022 . And thanks to a new official trailer, we finally know when we’ll be able to play it.
Turf Wars—ink-filled battles between rival teams of Inklings and Octolings—are still a primary focus this time around, of course (when it’s not broken, etc.), though Splatoon 3 spices things up with new maps, a new bow-and-arrow-esque weapon, and some new moves for defense and traversal. As you’d expect, it all looks just as messy and fun as the previous two titles.
Salmon Run, the wave-based co-op mode introduced in Splatoon 2, also makes a return, along with a slew of new features and a healthy dose of giant, monstrous Salmonid boss creatures to battle. As with other Nintendo Switch games, however, you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription if you plan on playing online.
