Perhaps the best feature of the new M4 iPad Pro is its new internal design. Now you can access the battery almost instantly when you remove the display.

The new M4 iPad Pro is thinner, faster, and has that gorgeous OLED display, but the most important part is on the inside. Unlike previous iPads, where you had to remove almost every major internal component to get to the battery, the new Pro lets you get to it with just popping off the display and unscrewing a few screws. It means Apple’s most rugged computer just got a more compelling long-term investment.

"Replacing batteries shouldn't be a pain in the neck or cost an arm and a leg. But in many of today's sleekly designed devices, the battery is glued or soldered in place, making replacement difficult, time-consuming, and expensive," tech expert and professional product tester Andhi Ermawan told Lifewire via email. "This seemingly minor design change could have major implications for both Apple and the tech industry in the long run. In my experience, batteries are often the first component to degrade in mobile devices."

We weren’t kidding about most of the changes inside this iPad. From the outside, the only thing you’ll notice when you place it next to the previous model is the reduction in thickness (assuming you turn off the awesome new display). But inside, Apple has made big strides.
