The release of the long-awaited Fallout: London mod is almost here, but not everyone will get the chance to play it. As confirmed by GOG, the mod will only be available to players using the platform and Steam, as Epic Games does not support rollback of updates.

GOG issued a statement to VG247 regarding the release of Fallout: London, confirming that the game would not be available on Epic Games. The CD Projekt storefront plans to distribute the mod, which will require players to rollback their copies of Fallout 4 to a patch prior to the latest next-gen update that was infamous for breaking many mods, including Fallout: London. VG247 reports that Fallout: London should work on the GOG version of the game, with a "downgrade option via a downgrade tool" or other method to be made available to Steam users. Epic Games users unfortunately have no way to play the mod, as the platform does not support update rollbacks.

Fallout: London is shaping up to be perhaps the largest fully released mod for a Bethesda game in history. It’s so big, in fact, that it could honestly be considered an entirely new game built in the Fallout 4 engine. If luck had been on their side, the developers would have launched the mod back in April, but a surprise update from Bethesda threw a spanner in the works. After months of uncertainty and the realization that the next-gen update wouldn’t be stable enough to support the mod, the developers resorted to a downgrade option, which negatively impacted the mod’s distribution.

As VG247 reported, the mod is currently undergoing extensive testing over at GOG, with plans to launch once testing is complete, five years after development first began. After that, the developers plan to explore ways to port the mod to the next-gen version of Fallout 4 and hopefully allow players on all platforms to experience it in full.
