"The tip of a sippy cup, essentially," is a tricky one-across clue from the August 7 NYT crossword puzzle. It's safe to say that this answer is a bit obscure, because apparently what I imagine to be a sippy cup isn't quite what this clue writer imagines a sippy cup to be. Yet somehow, we're both right. The answer to the one-across clue, "The tip of a sippy cup, in fact," is "STRAW." A straw is a tube used to suck liquids through, at least according to the Cambridge Dictionary.
