The Squire's Tale is a point and click puzzle adventure in the AE Mysteries series. I really like the series because the stories are well written, and there is a lot of humor and intrigue, as well as some tricky puzzles and object finding. This one is listed as a beginner's adventure, but if you want to complete it without using hints it can still be a challenge, so read on for my full walkthrough (with puzzle solutions) of The Squire's Tale.
Adventure Escape Mysteries – The Squire's Tale: Chapter 1 Walkthrough Guide (by Haiku Games)
If you've played previous AE Mysteries games, you'll be familiar with The Squire's Tale. Click on items on the screen to interact with them or pick them up and add them to your inventory. Items can also be used in close-ups from your inventory after clicking on certain details. Stars you collect can be used to give you clues if you get stuck, but that shouldn't be necessary if you're following my walkthrough.
In The Squire's Tale you play as our hero squire, Martin, as he attempts to guide his ruthless knight boss Cedrick to recover the Royal Ruby and then save the realm. You begin the trail of goblins and have made your way to a cave entrance.
Take the Tunic (a1), Torch (a2), Statue Horn and Statue Arm (a3). Select the torch from your inventory (the background will turn dark blue) and use it to remove the plants (a4). Click on the cave entrance that this reveals for a close-up and take the Shovel and Hammer. Use the hammer on the pillar in the close-up (above the skull) to reveal an alcove and take the Goblin Dictionary and Animal Statues from inside.
