Apex Legends, like most battle royales, divides the available loot and game modes into a seasonal system. Each season has a set start and end date.

Seasons last about three months and usually introduce a new legend, balance changes, and battle pass. Seasons often also include new cosmetics, weapons, maps, and more.
Beginning in season five, which launched in 2020, quests were added to the game. These daily and weekly objectives help players earn points for the battle pass, which provides rewards for each level. Quests can also be aligned with collection or lore events, and can have their own trackers, separate from that season’s battle pass.
The most recent season, called Upheveal, launched on May 7 and includes Alter, the new Skirmisher legend from another dimension, multiple updates for Broken Moon, five Katar Mythic artifact variants, and the Exotic Shards currency for the Heirloom shop.
