CES 2021, the first fully virtual event in the show’s 54-year history, is now in the books. Fewer exhibitors signed up than in years past, but CES remained the launch pad for hundreds of new products spanning health tech, personal computers, televisions and more. Here are all the hot trends we spotted at the show.
The Top 5 Consumer Tech Trends of CES 2021
In 2020, the face mask became an essential part of every wardrobe, and at CES, the technology hit the market en masse.
Razer, best known for gaming laptops and peripherals, took the show by storm with its bizarre but ingenious Project Hazel. Charlie Bolton, Razer’s director of industrial design, called the mask “our answer to what could be the world’s smartest mask.” It’s an N95 mask with a built-in voice amplifier to prevent muffled chatter and a transparent front so others can see your facial expressions. The only problem? It’s just a concept, with no concrete release date or price tag.
Of course, Razer wasn’t alone. Maskfone showed off the AirPop Active+, a smart mask with sensors that track your breathing, and Amazfit introduced a mask that claims to clean filters with UV light. LG reminded the world of its PuriCare Mask, a personal air purifier that’s already available, but only in a few countries in Asia and the Middle East.
