Unlike Windows, DOS commands are the primary way you interact with the operating system. Windows and other modern operating systems use a graphical system designed for touch or a mouse. If you are using Windows (such as Windows 11, 10, 8, etc.), you do not need DOS commands because you do not have MS-DOS. See the table at the bottom of this page for more information.

Below is a complete list of MS-DOS commands, often simply called DOS commands, available as of MS-DOS 6.22:
The commands in Windows are available through the command prompt and are called command prompt commands or CMD commands. However, they are not DOS commands.
