With the Final Shape expansion, Destiny 2 has switched from seasons to episodes. The episodes are supposed to be longer and more content-rich, but players are already unimpressed after three weeks.
Every time Destiny 2 players start a new game
During Destiny 2’s weekly reset on June 25, we got to play the final story mission of the first Act of Echoes. The Episode is far from over, but you’ll have to wait three weeks for it to continue into Act Two, and no one’s happy about that. “It’s kind of weird to go almost a month without any content when they could have easily just let one act lead into the next without any wait in between,” one player wrote in a Reddit thread, stressing that there won’t be anything to do for the next few weeks.
The episodes were supposed to be bigger and more innovative than the previous four-season model. While Echoes brought an interesting storyline, new weapons, and an updated Nessus, it also added more timegating. "Yes, episodes are literally drip-fed more than seasons," one player wrote.
Even if we accept that the story is paused for the next three weeks, the rest of the seasonal weapons and season pass rewards are locked behind Acts 2 and 3. This means that there’s basically nothing new to do during the pause other than finish the grind for Act 1.
