They probably don’t want you to know, but as a hair expert, I can tell when people are wearing their natural hair. I can also tell by their hairlines who is hiding alopecia.

But the real problem is: why hide?
The social stigma of going bald is a common problem for people with alopecia. But our research shows that actors, rappers and models who shaved their heads did not lose their popularity afterward. In fact, some became more popular as a result, which could show that the world is more supportive than previously thought.
For our research, we analyzed how shaving affected the social following of eight top celebrities. It turned out that the accounts at least remained in trend, while some increased their follower count after the big shave.
