People often complain that Apple products are too expensive, but they’re usually talking about Macs and iPhones, which are actually about the same price as their competitors. When it comes to accessories, however, Apple’s prices are downright absurd.
Apple’s accessory prices fall firmly into the “ask what you can get” school. Prices are all over the place. When iPad cases cost as much as smart speakers, or a monitor stand is much, much more expensive than a real Mac, you know something’s not right. Let’s take a look at Apple’s most absurd pricing choices.
First—since we’re going to be comparing them to the competition—a word about the prices of Apple’s products, the Macs, iPhones, and iPads. Compare the MacBook Air, for example, to similar models from other brands, and it’s actually quite reasonably priced, if not cheap. It’s not that Macs are expensive for what they are. It’s just that Apple doesn’t make any rivals for cheaper PCs. The product line starts at $999, and you’re getting something akin to a $999 Dell.
So for the purposes of this article, we'll assume that Apple's actual computer prices are reasonable. Now the madness begins.
