Time zones are the bane of the remote worker’s existence, especially when your team is international. You can try to keep track of who lives where and what time it is where, but my brain isn’t wired for that and I know I’m not the only one.
How to get clocks for multiple time zones in the menu bar on macOS
There’s a free and open-source app (There is the app’s name—I’m not just telling you there’s an app) from developer Dena Sohrabi that makes it easy to keep track of the time where your employees live. You can add time zones and then add a custom image and name. This makes it incredibly easy to tell the time to the people on your team. There are plenty of time zone tracking apps out there, yes, but There stands out for its focus on people rather than places.
To get started, launch the application, click on the menu bar icon, and click on the Add button. From here you can add a name, a location, and optionally an image. You can add an image manually if you want, or you can simply type in an X/Twitter or Telegram username and the image will be filled in automatically.
Repeat this process for everyone you work with regularly, and you’ll have a handy reference for what time it is, no matter where your team is working. Things like Daylight Savings Time are taken into account, which is especially handy if you work with people in places that don’t observe Daylight Savings Time, or if you live in a hemisphere that tilts the other way than you (like I said, time zones are confusing).
