Meta seems committed to improving Threads through incremental improvements, and this latest update is another step in that direction.
How to Mute Profanity in Videos and on the Internet
In a post on Threads on Thursday, Instagram's Adam Mosseri announced that Threads' Hidden Words feature is expanding. Now, you can choose to filter out unwanted content (based on words characteristic of that content) from more places. Mosseri listed "feeds, searches, profiles, and post reactions" as places where these filters will be applied. You can also adjust these settings to filter out specific words or phrases of your choosing.
In addition to the Hidden Words expansion, Mosseri also said that Threads is testing ways to limit who can quote your posts and mute notifications. If you're participating in this test, you'll likely see these features appear in your Threads app today, if they aren't there already.
As mentioned, these are just a few of the incremental updates Meta has made to threads since its release. Threads started out pretty bare-bones, but with each update—like getting a next tab last year or testing the ability to archive posts (Mosseri posted about this on Wednesday)—Threads has become a bit more robust.
