Social media giant TikTok has just unveiled a new content moderation plan aimed at reducing the number of harmful accounts on the platform.
Why Your TikTok Got SHADOWBANNED (Stuck at 200 Views)
These tools are aimed squarely at “repeat offenders,” meaning users who consistently violate the app’s terms of service. For that reason, TikTok has significantly strengthened its account enforcement system.
Here’s how it works. If you post content that violates the guidelines, it will be removed and your account will receive a strike. Once you rack up enough strikes, you will be permanently banned. TikTok hasn’t said how many strikes will result in a ban, but they have suggested that some strikes carry more weight than others, especially in the case of bullying and harassment.
For example, you can probably share spam multiple times before you get that permanent ban, but promoting hateful ideologies will quickly get your account locked. Some behaviors will result in a permanent ban even on a first offense, such as threatening violence, showing violence in a clip, or facilitating child sexual abuse.
