Trump effectively banned the platform from operating in the U.S. in an executive order, and the Chinese company filed a federal lawsuit in response. TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer announced his resignation in a statement this week, saying the political climate “has changed dramatically.”
“Over the past few weeks, as the political climate has changed significantly, I have been thinking extensively about what structural changes in the company will require and what this means for the global role I have signed up for,” he said in a statement.
