Tom Hanks is not trying to sell you drugs. The actor shared a statement on Instagram Thursday night, warning fans about online ads promoting “miracle cures and miracle drugs” that feature an AI-generated vocal impersonation of the actor without his consent.

“There are multiple advertisements on the internet that falsely use my name, likeness, and voice to promote miracle cures and miracle cures. These advertisements are created without my permission, fraudulently, and via AI,” Hanks wrote in the post, titled a “public service announcement.”

"I have nothing to do with these posts or the productions and treatments or the spokespeople promoting these cures," the actor continued. "I have type 2 diabetes and I ONLY work with my board certified physician regarding my treatment. DO NOT BE FOOLED. DO NOT BE SCAMMED. DO NOT LOSE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.
