Playing Manor Lords brought back the joy of playing medieval city-building strategies like Stronghold, Settlers, and Total War. Comparing those titles inspired me to come up with five things I’d like to see in Manor Lords Early Access.
5 Things to Remember Before Buying Manor Lords in Early Access #manorlords #earlyaccess #gaming
Before I present you my Manor Lords ideas for future updates, I should mention that developer Slavic Magic was very clear about what this game is about: a primarily city-builder game with battles as an added value. That said, I still expect more from Manor Lords.
Families play a big role in the game, as villagers are organized into households that perform the same jobs. While that is very realistic, I wished for similar options for my avatar. I wish I had the ability to arrange a marriage (as long as it is true love, of course) and expand my land that way. Marriage would give me the option to have children and use them to rule regions or to become generals to fight in my place (auto-combat). It would also allow for a dynamic sandbox scenario where children would continue my avatar’s rule.
I understand that micromanagement is part of the experience of building a city, but controlling everything quickly becomes a chore. This problem can be easily solved with special orders that automate the work. For example, I'd like to be able to issue orders to workers in buildings, such as "don't work in (months)" or "stop when (number of items)."
