Not only e-bikes are becoming more and more advanced, traditional cyclists who ride on pedals are also getting a range of new gadgets that should make cycling safer and easier.

Cannondale recently released the latest Synapse endurance road bikes, which feature rear-facing radar, front and rear lights that can flash increasingly brighter when a car is approaching, and a handlebar-mounted monitor that displays approaching vehicles.
“High-tech bikes can be more efficient, more aerodynamic, more comfortable, and even cheaper to manufacture, which means cheaper for the rider,” Mike Yakubowicz, CEO of bike maker Blacksmith Cycle, told Lifewire in an email interview. “In a more basic sense, everything around us is heavily focused on technology: AR, digital integration, even a more connected ecosystem, and a lot of these technologies can ultimately improve the rider’s experience on the bike.”
Cannondale’s new lineup relies on high-tech features that might seem more at home on a luxury car than a bicycle. The new Synapse Carbon features what Cannondale calls SmartSense technology, a system of lights and radar that actively communicates with the rider, the bike and the environment, and is powered by a single battery.
