IFC Films' Adam Elliot's animated film "Memoir of a Snail" showcases brotherly love with the quirky, whimsical nature of a snail in the first trailer ahead of its North American premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, which was announced today in the program.

The charming stop-motion adult drama took nearly a decade to make and follows the life of Grace Puddle, a lonely misfit with a passion for collecting ornamental snails and a deep love of romance novels. Her life takes a downward turn when she is separated from her twin brother at a young age. Despite constant hardship, Grace perseveres and finds inspiration through a friendship with Pinky, an eccentric older woman, as she slowly learns to find confidence and love.

The adorable trailer follows the twins as they grow from babies to teenagers, encountering bullies, roller coasters and old ladies in bikinis. With a burst of dramatic music and plenty of tears being shed, it highlights the heartfelt nature of the film and the meticulous detail in the stop-motion creations.

“Memoir of a Snail” is Elliot’s second stop-motion feature film, following his critically acclaimed “Mary and Max” (2009), which premiered at Sundance. Elliot, an Academy Award winner for Best Animated Short Film for “Harvie Krumpet” (2003), writes and directs this moving animated feature starring Emmy winner Sarah Snook (“Succession”), Oscar nominees Kodi Smit-McPhee (“The Power of the Dog”) and Jacki Weaver (“Animal Kingdom”), and acclaimed stars Eric Bana (“Munich”) and musician/composer Nick Cave.
