Thanks to a new update for Amazon Echo Show, you can turn your device's screen into a handy security camera.

According to CNET, the update can be enabled within the device itself. While it was previously only available for the Echo Show 10, the update is now available for the first-gen Echo Show 5 and the Echo Show 8.

The Home Monitoring setting offers motion alerts, video recording, and the ability to keep an eye on pets or toddlers. CNET notes that the Home Monitoring feature isn’t a complete replacement for a real security camera, since you can’t view livestream footage.

While Amazon Echo devices already have a video feature called Drop-In, CNET reports that this only shows the person you're calling a video of you. So you can't just "dial in" (so to speak) without being seen.
