In response to a recent wave of hate attacks, Twitch is rolling out new verification tools to address the growing problem.
New Tools Combat Twitch Hate Attacks (And How It Can Cause Drama!)
According to the company's official blog post, Twitch is adding phone-verified chat and expanding its email verification settings, giving content creators more control over who communicates with them. The update is available to all streamers and can be accessed via Settings in the Creator Dashboard.
Phone Verified Chat requires users to verify their phone numbers before using the chat. This feature, along with the new email verification settings, gives the streamer more control over who can join.
However, Twitch does not say what the email verification settings are or what they entail. VIP members, subscribers, and mods may be exempt from verification.
