Dan Clancy, the often vocal CEO of Twitch, claims that the algorithm cannot detect and therefore ban all sexual content on the streaming platform because creators are not using the correct labels.
Twitch CEO UNDER VISION Avoiding Sexual Harassment Issues Among Twitch Streamers
The CEO's statement came after he appeared on Spanish Twitch star Rubius' stream earlier this month. During the stream, he was showing off new Twitch features when his screen accidentally appeared with some unsavory content. He laughed it off, before later explaining that he had to manually find "offensive clips" because the system wasn't pinging them, which led to his algorithm offering these types of suggestions.
He then elaborated: Mislabeling is how sexual content can bypass the algorithm that blocks it. So mislabeled streams are the biggest reason why this type of content accidentally stays on Twitch.
Clancy did not say whether Twitch was working on a solution to the situation.
