According to a tweet from Twitter Support, removing the invite feature will improve the quality of the broadcast at the expense of engagement. However, viewers will still be able to interact with the host via chat or add hearts by tapping the screen. Twitter added the invite feature in March 2020, allowing users to invite up to three other people to join a user's broadcast, albeit audio-only.
Twitter had taken steps to improve video quality prior to this update, after users complained about the site's compression technique.
In late September, Twitter Support announced that it would be working on making videos "less pixelated for a better viewing experience." According to The Verge, this involved removing a processing step that broke videos into smaller chunks for easier storage, but at the cost of quality. Though some users have claimed to notice no difference.
