Mark Zuckerberg announced in a post on Facebook that a new feature is coming to WhatsApp: the ability to be logged into two accounts at the same time.
Using WhatsApp on Multiple Phones | Two Phones at Once!
The announcement, which was also posted on the company's blog page, was met with enthusiasm. According to the company's blog, the change is "Convenient for switching between accounts, like your work and personal accounts. Now you don't have to log out every time, carry two phones, or worry about messages from the wrong place."
There is one caveat. To have multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same device, you’ll need either an extra SIM card or an available eSIM. Once you’ve met that requirement, you can set up the second account in a similar way to setting up your first WhatsApp account on your iPhone or Android phone. Open your Settings in WhatsApp, then click the arrow next to your name. Tap “Add Account” and you’re all set. You can manage the privacy and notification settings for each account separately.
While Zuckerberg said the feature is "coming soon," the blog post announcing the feature didn't give an exact timeline for when you can expect it. If it works like other WhatsApp features, it'll likely roll out in rolling updates, meaning you could get it today, or it could be a few days to a few weeks before you get the ability.
