Tyler Lynch has been writing about technology on and off for more than a decade, most recently as updates editor for Lifewire. At various stages of his career, he has worked as a journalist, staff writer, editor, and consultant, covering consumer technology, internet culture, environmentalism, politics, film, business, and everything in between.
Give me life
An avid fiction writer, he has also published science fiction in a number of respected publications, including Vice, Porter House Review, McSweeney’s, and Permafrost. A DIY hobbyist, he enjoys building things and gardening around his Maine home, where he recently built a cedar deck, wood-fired pizza oven, and in-ground fire pit. He is also a lifelong musician, multi-instrumentalist, and hobby producer, who spends a lot of time tinkering with synthesizers, guitars, and effects pedals.
My daily computer is a 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro. My phone is an iPhone 8. For audio/music production, I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface hooked up to a pair of Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pros, along with a pair of 8-inch Yamaha HS8 studio monitors. I ride a 2003 Honda Shadow and have a cluttered garage full of power tools for DIY projects.
Tyler attended Syracuse University, where he majored in English and textual studies. Since then, he has taken a number of writing workshops at Harvard University, GrubStreet, and elsewhere.
