Earlier I wrote the Ultimate Troubleshooting Guide for Windows 7 Homegroup Issues which many people found useful. Today I am going to write an ultimate troubleshooting guide for Windows 7 hanging issues. This includes Windows 7 hangs on startup/boot, hangs on logout, hangs on shutdown, hangs while installing programs, etc.

Although Windows 7 is a big step forward from Windows Vista, it still has its issues. I have had numerous problems with Windows 7 freezing while performing routine tasks on my computer. I have tried to gather as many solutions as possible which I have ended up using in this guide. Hopefully someone can solve their problem by looking here instead of searching through a bunch of websites.

I'll try to make the guide more navigable by using section headings to identify what type of hang I'm dealing with. That way you can easily skip to the section that you think might solve your problem. Feel free to comment with solutions/questions!
