Presenting your screen or a portion of your screen is a pretty handy tool in Meet that can help you communicate ideas with the click of a button. If you’re a teacher, this is your go-to tool to help your class follow your teaching pattern.
However, you may have noticed that sharing a video feed is quite easy during presentations, but sharing audio is not. The participants may be able to hear you, but they will not get any audio of what you are presenting. Why is this happening? Let’s find out!
By default, Meet is set to share audio from your microphone, regardless of the meeting. This means that even if you decide to present your screen with content that has audio, Meet will only share audio from your microphone unless the appropriate device is selected in settings. Most PCs manufactured after 2013 have a handy utility bundled with their sound drivers called 'Stereo Mix'.
Stereo Mix lets you stack audio from multiple input sources into a single audio stream, which can then be routed to any source. This allows you to share audio from your presentation in Meet and use your microphone at the same time. Let’s take a look at how to use it.
