I thought it was impossible to die in Baldur's Gate 3 before your encounter with Commander Zhalk on the Nautolid. But one player proved that nothing is impossible by showing us that you can end your run before you even start it.

Can you beat Baldur's Gate 3 as the unluckiest man alive?

According to u/AureliusofKvatch's post on the Baldur's Gate 3 subreddit on May 7, they died during their first attempt at Honor Mode (a separate difficulty setting with only one save) in the first room. After interacting with the tadpole pond, which drains roughly half of your health, they destroyed a bunch of Brine Bulbs that explode and spread fire. Desperate to heal, they attempted to reach the Restoration Pod, which heals you and restores your Spell Slots, but unfortunately they died along the way, ending their first Honor Mode run.

Honor Mode is the hardest difficulty in Baldur's Gate 3 for two main reasons: You have to understand the game well and you can't make any stupid, funny decisions. Since u/AureliusofKvatch was alone in the first room, they didn't waste much time, but as you progress, you have to be aware of everything you can kill: characters, items, and the environment.

If you decide to take on Vlaakith in the Githyanki Creche, your decision will result in a total party kill. The best advice I can give you is to take your time, plan your fights carefully, and control your urge to mash buttons and experiment. If you want to try out new builds and take risky decisions, then stick to Explorer, Normal, and Tactician difficulties.
