EVERYTHING WE KNOW About Until Dawn {2024} (Graphics Comparison, New Content & More!) – ZakPak
Today, Neil McEwan, creative director at remake developer Ballistic Moon, posted a message on the PlayStation Blog detailing not only an October 4 release date for the game, but nearly all of the changes and improvements coming with the new version. As with many other remakes, the visuals have received a major overhaul thanks to improved lighting and character models. These changes were showcased in a new comparison trailer, which detailed how Unreal Engine 5 has given the horror game a fresh coat of paint. In addition to the new visuals, the remake will also feature new camera controls and cinematography that will change the way players view classic scenes.
In addition to the visual improvements, the gameplay will also feature a number of new gameplay elements. A new Stay Calm mechanic will be added as an alternative to the original game's Don't Move mechanic for those not playing with a motion controller, along with other accessibility features. New collectibles will also be added, and some of these new items will be placed in new areas, giving existing characters new interactions.
And while Ballistic Moon has stated that the original story won't be changing in the remake, the game's prologue will be getting an overhaul. Original scenes will be reframed and new cutscenes will be added to give other characters more screen time in an effort to increase their "emotional impact." With a game so heavily focused on story and character interactions, these changes may be the most impactful for the remake.
