Apple's next iPhone could finally ditch the Lightning connector, and some experts are happy about that.
What your iPhone 15's USB-C port can and can't do!
This fall, Apple is gearing up to unveil its next generation of devices, and speculation suggests that the high-end iPhone 15 models will feature significant improvements, including a USB-C port. Some say the switch from Lightning is long overdue.
“USB-C is a universal standard that is being embraced by various manufacturers, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices beyond Apple products,” technical analyst Mark Vena told Lifewire in an email interview. “Additionally, USB-C supports faster data transfer speeds and higher power delivery, allowing for faster charging and data syncing.”
An iPhone with USB-C would be a win for users because of its versatility and convenience, Vena said. The reversible design makes for easy plugging in without having to worry about orientation. USB-C would also eliminate the need for multiple cables and adapters.
