I use the alarm feature in my iPhone’s clock app to remind me when to feed my cat. I find that she’s less likely to bother me if she thinks the alarm, not me, is responsible for feeding time (sounds silly, but it works). However, when I’m not home, the alarm is mostly annoying. That’s why I set my alarms to only go off when I’m home.

This isn’t just useful for cat people. Maybe you don’t want your usual morning alarm to go off when you’re on vacation, for example, or maybe you have alarms that are useful at work that you don’t want to hear at home. The thing is, you can set alarms to only go off when you’re in a specific place using your iPhone’s built-in Shortcuts feature. Here’s how.
The first step should be straightforward: set some alarms, if you haven’t already. Go to the Clock app, tap the Alarm tab, and click the plus sign in the upper-right corner. Note the Label field: the next steps will be a lot easier if you carefully name your various alarms. For example, I named them after the food my cat gets at certain times.
Next, we need to set up some shortcuts: one to turn the alarm off when you leave your home and one to turn the alarm back on when you get home.
