Apple's Reminders app is great, but I've always wanted to add its items to my iPhone's Calendar app. I'm most productive when I have a to-do list with clearly marked deadlines, but I find it overwhelming to look at that list at the start of the day. I used to dread adding too many items to Reminders—that is, until I discovered ReminderCal ($5). It does one thing and does it well: sync reminders to the Calendar app.
How to Link Reminders to Your Calendar
The Calendar app has a clean week view that adds some space between each entry. If I go for a run at 5 a.m., meditate at 7 a.m., and work at 9:30 a.m., those entries seem overwhelming in Reminders. In Calendar, the same three entries appear vertically at long intervals, telling me that I have a lot of free time between tasks. It’s almost a trick that diminishes the urgency of tasks and makes my brain think, “I can do this!”
Once you download and install ReminderCal on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac (a single purchase unlocks the app on all three platforms), you’ll need to grant the app access to your calendars and the Reminders app. From there, the app does its thing with minimal input.
Now, when you add timed reminders in Apple’s Reminders app, they’ll automatically appear in Calendar. If there are reminders you don’t want to sync, you can start those entries with $nocal or $nocalendar and ReminderCal will ignore them.
