Last week, Sony announced its revamped “PlayStation Plus” subscription service, which features three different tiers that let you play games online and access exclusive games. If you want access to all the games on offer, including PS2, PS3, and PSP options, you’ll have to shell out $120 per year for a subscription. Unless, of course, you take advantage of this workaround.

PlayStation Plus Premium essentially combines the current PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now services: the former gives you access to online playback of a handful of exclusive games, while the latter gives you access to a laundry list of games to play. To that end, Sony will automatically register every existing PlayStation Now account as a PlayStation Plus Premium account when the service launches in June.

That got people thinking: Why not subscribe to PlayStation Now for a year, which only costs $60, and use the savings over an account that should cost $120? While the logic was sound, Sony went one step further. The company removed the option to purchase PlayStation Now, except for the monthly price: you can still subscribe for $10 a month, but that works out to the same $120 a year that PlayStation Plus Premium costs.

However, deal hunter Wario64 tweeted some good news: Sony was still offering the annual PlayStation Now subscription, but only through a specific link. If you follow that link and log in to your PlayStation account, you can subscribe to Now for the year, which will then turn into a PlayStation Plus Premium account at no additional cost.
